Know Your Child’s Learning Style
Full transcript
Are you aware of your child’s learning style? With a little effort, you can better understand how your child learns best and help him or her succeed and thrive in school.
Apply this to your kids:1. Do you know your child’s learning style (visual, auditory, kinesthetic)?
2. What is your own primary learning style? As a parent, does knowing about different styles help you communicate better with your child?
3. Ask your child, “If I were to teach you something, would you rather me show you how to do it, tell you how to do it, or let you figure it out for yourself?”
4. Have you and your child’s teacher(s) talked about ways to help your child succeed in light of his or her learning style?
Prayer for parents: Lord God, You have created each of us so uniquely—and yet in Your image! Guide us to be mindful parents and sensitive to the needs of our children, including learning to better understand their unique communication styles as well as our own. May the Holy Spirit reside in us that our children may embrace this new school year with peace, joy, and wonder. Amen
