All is Calm, All is Bright

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
We can all get caught up in the holiday rush at Christmas. I know that between Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day I have been known as a “chicken with my head cut off.” With a large family (six children, twenty grands, in-laws, outlaws, etc.) there is no denying that my life can get extremely busy.
I have had some Christmases, when my son was in the Navy, that for a solid week leading up to Christmas Day I had thirty plus people to feed and house. Now things have slowed down a little, but mostly, I have tried to let Jesus rule all of that busyness. It is one thing to say, “Be still, and know that I am God,” (Psalms 46:10 KJV), but to actually stop and let God guide in those hectic moments is truly “of Him.”
If you find the holiday spirit slipping away, take heart, ask the Holy Spirit to refresh you, and help you!
The focus of Christmas is Jesus, his birth, life, death, and resurrection. It is my goal for the rest of my days to honor my Savior and thank him through word and deed, busy or at rest, in everything I do and think. And the cares of this world, they still pop up every now and then, but I know who will always take care of me.
Dear Lord Jesus; Help me trust you more in all of life’s duties and tasks. Let me honor you as I serve my family and others. When things get crazy, please let me stop and give it all to you. In your precious name, Amen
PS: Don’t forget about the lonely folks this holiday season. Pick someone to visit or invite over!
