I SPY

You could say that you know a lot of people, but I beg to differ. Know is a very interesting word. Do you know, or do you just “see.” Over the last few months, I have been to many different places and have spied many people, worthy of a second look!

Last week, I spied a man with one arm. He was in prison, for whatever reason, and I went to minister, through a beautiful ministry that takes children into the prison to spend a day with their dads (Forgiven Ministry.) This man had such a jovial spirit, it was contagious and of the twenty men in the program, he stood out, including the one arm thing.

As we were preparing a “store” for the men to “buy” their children gifts the day before the children came in, another inmate father came by the table. He had a sprout-type hairdo and I commented on it. “Wow, that’s some hairdo!” “Oh, that’s gonna be fixed for the big day with my children, Theo over there fixes, braids and cuts all of our hair!” With ONE ARM!

I spied a grandmother (Caregiver) who, at the registration location, told me her story of raising her grandson. His mother had died, dad in prison, and he started a Lemonade Stand business. He was sixteen and a beautiful, polite, well-groomed young man. He is obviously going places. This was no ordinary business that babies do, this was a well thought out, tee-shirts, printed tablecloth, under a canopy, type of business. Totally cool! This Mimi was the driver of this young man’s future, and they were both an inspiration.

There were others that I spied over the last few months, inspirations all.

I spied a cowboy who broke his pelvis, and many other bones, cowboying. His tenacity and love for Jesus are remarkable after so many physical challenges.

I spied a woman who willingly gave her kidney to help a friend.

I spied a friend who lost her son and then her husband, yet has refused to give up.

All of these people have blessed me with their stories and have moved me to be reminded of God’s love and continued care.

Are you going through something today that seems impossible? “He is faithful.” God will get you through if you trust Him. What are you teaching me, Lord?

He is always faithful to his chosen ones!

And the Lord, he it is that doth go before thee; he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed. Deuteronomy 31:8
